Health & Safety Licensed
Accredited and licensed for every type of waste we collect. DBS-checked crews, site-safe practices, and COSHH assessments available on request.
1. Health and safety policy
It is the policy of The Junk Squad to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all our employees, and to ensure that persons not in our employment who may be affected by our undertakings are not exposed to risks to their health and safety.
2. Responsibilities
- • The Managing Director has overall responsibility for health and safety across the company.
- • Crew supervisors are responsible for day-to-day safety on site and for carrying out dynamic risk assessments before every lift.
- • All operatives are responsible for their own safety and for following safe systems of work.
3. Manual handling and lifting
No lift is ever attempted by a single operative if it exceeds safe manual handling limits. Two-man lifts are mandatory for anything over 25kg, and mechanical aids (sack trucks, stair climbers, furniture sliders) are used wherever access allows. Crews are trained in proper lifting technique during their onboarding and annual refresher.
4. COSHH and hazardous items
We do not remove hazardous or controlled waste. A COSHH assessment for the small number of low-risk substances we do handle (screenwash, vehicle cleaning products, hand sanitiser) is held at the registered office and available on request. Suspected asbestos or other hazardous material will be left in place and referred to a licensed specialist.
5. Accidents and reporting
All accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences are recorded in our accident book and reported to the relevant enforcing authority within the statutory RIDDOR timelines where applicable.
